Counseling & Discernment

My clients typically seek change and healing in their lives for issues such as (though not limited to): loss, depression, anxiety, post-traumatic growth work, life transitions, relationship struggles, navigating organizational and system pressures, identity development, and spiritual discernment. 

Growth-Based Individual Counseling Sessions -- I believe that therapy is a process of uncovering the wonder of who we already are, but often struggle to believe, receive and live into on a daily basis. 

Faith-Based Individual Counseling Sessions -- For many people, spirituality and faith are vital aspects of the human experience. I offer a wide range of faith-based counseling where the client drives the content and process.

Pastors and Community Spiritual Leaders often choose, and are chosen, to serve their communities because of their generosity of presence, wisdom and availability. Communities of faith and service are complex living organisms, of which the leader is a vital part. Mental, emotional, spiritual and relational health for the leader's community often comes before their own. Safe, confidential space to process one's experience as a human person in leadership can be hard to find. My life experience, education and ongoing focus help me provide this vital confidential processing and healing space for leaders of faith-based and service-oriented communities.

Group Discernment / Clearance Committees -- At times, we need to make significant shifts or transitions in career, life decisions and planning for the future. We often do this alone or with one trusted other person; a spouse, friend or mentor. Clearance Committees are a Quaker/Friends practice of discernment for an individual within a group context. Clearance Committees are comprised of 3-4 people chosen by the client from among their own support network. I offer a package of facilitated clearance sessions to help begin a process of discernment for life questions and transitions.  Most clearance committee clients report a deeper sense of peace and grounded curiosity about their transition or upcoming decisions as a result of their clearance committee sessions.

Geriatric Wellness and Storytelling -- Story Packages for Geriatric Clients and their Families.  Stories are some of the most unseen, yet powerful ways we define ourselves and are formed in relationship and community. It is often the stories we don't tell that have the greatest impact in shaping our lives. As we get older and life gets more complicated, we often forget to gather those stories. Story packages are a way to capture, in the client's own voice, the stories that shaped their lives. These clients are often older, with family members that would like to collect these stories but don't have the time or equipment to do so. I will provide a compassionate interview with your elder to record, collect and transcribe their life stories.  See this website page for further updates on when that service will be available.
